British Airways

British Airways are a full service airline, so offer a free bar service and complimentary food on all of their flights to South Africa.

Once on board your flight your economy seat has lumbar support, adjustable headrest and recline. The British Airways economy seat has a 31” seat pitch. You can enjoy the latest films, TV programmes, games, audio books, music and radio on your entertainment centre with personal screen. You have over 100 movies and TV programmes to choose from plus over 50 music CDs and audio books.

Virgin Atlantic

Virgin Atlantic also offer complimentary food and a free bar service on all of their flights to South Africa.

You can reserve your seats as soon as you book your flight at no additional charge. However sometimes this is not possible as only approx 40% of the seats can be reserved in this manner, so it often pays to book early in order to get the best choice of seating. Once online check in opens 24 hours before the flight leaves, all unallocated seats are available for reservation so it is likely you will be able to select your choice of seats at this point, if you missed out before. When you arrive at the airport simply take your bag to the Virgin Atlantic Bag Drop and head straight for the gate.

Every Virgin Atlantic economy seat has a personal seat back TV that is packed with entertainment including all the latest movie releases, shows and games. You will also receive a amenity kit containing essentials for a night flight to South Africa such as a face mask, ear plugs, toothpaste and tooth brush. The seat has a 31-32” seat pitch, although the majority of seats are 31”.

If you desire a bit of extra legroom for the flight you can get three extra inches by purchasing an extra legroom seat or you can book an exit row seat and have no other seat directly in front.
